Lietuvos Rytas will look to wrap up the ULEB Cup regular season on a high note when it hosts AEK Athens at the Siemens Arena in Vilnius, Lithuania. L. Rytas (6-3) must beat AEK to finish the regular season in first place in Group A, which would guarantee the club home-court advantage in the first two elimination rounds series. However, a loss to AEK could see the Lithuanian champs drop as far as third in the standings. AEK (2-7) cannot reach the elimination rounds and will be playing this game solely for pride. The 2005 ULEB Cup winers missed a chance to secure first place last week with a 72-67 loss at Gran Canaria. The only good news for L. Rytas was the inspiring debut of swingman Kareem Rush, who had 20 points and 5 rebounds in 23 minutes. There is plenty of optimism at L. Rytas ahead of this game. The club is 4-0 at home this season and has won 15 straight ULEB Cup games in Vilnius over the past three years. Moreover, coach Zmago Sagadin's side coasted to a 76-102 blasting of AEK when they met earlier this season in Athens. That night, Joao Paulo Batista and Arturas Jomantas led the way with 21 and 18 points off the bench, respectively. Batista (10.7 ppg.) is only one among a well-balanced group of scorers for the team, which includes playmaker Roberts Stelmahers (10.5 ppg., 3.3 apg.), shooter Andrius Slezas (9.9 ppg.) and big man Matt Nielsen (9.1 ppg., 6.6 rpg.). AEK uses an eight-man rotation, where all but one player has proven to be a reliable scoring option. Nestoras Kommatos (13.1 ppg.) is the biggest threat, with Brent Scott (9.4 ppg., 5.8 rpg.) the prime inside threat and Nikos Vetouloas (8.3 ppg., 3.1 apg.) the leading perimeter scorer. AEK coach Vangelis Alexandris may extend the rotation this week to give some of the younger reserves a bigger taste of the ULEB Cup in his team's last game. In any event, L. Rytas figures to be the overwhelming favorite and it would take a stellar performance from the younger AEK guys to stop the hosts' streak and knock them from first place in Group A.

ελπιζω να κρατηθει σε λογικα ορια το σκορ. +10-15 . ελπιζω αυτος ο αγωνας να μην γινει τροχοπεδη για την νικη που πρεπει να κανουμε με τον πανελληνιο.

Ορθα μιλησες..


Μετά τον αγώνα με την ΑΕΛ λεει ο Κομματος "Τωρα που τέλειωσε και η Ευρωπη..........εεεεεεεεεε,απο την Τριτη βασικα που τελειωνουμε με την Λιέτουβους" ,δειχνει ποσο τον υπολογιζουν τον αγωνα..!!!

Το βασικο ειναι η κατάληξη της προτασης αυτης "θα δουλέψουμε καλύτερα και περισσοτερο και θα βελτιωθουμε".Το ιδιο υποστήριξε και ο Ταπουτος στον Περπεριδη..Τελικα χωραει πολυ συζήτηση το αν πρεπει ή οχι να παιζει μια ομαδα στην Ευρώπη..Καπως επιπολαια μου φαινεται αποφασιζουν καποιοι και απαντουν θετικα στις προτασεις για Ευρωπη που τους γινονται.


Χωρις Σκοτ θα παιξει η ΑΕΚ.

όταν παίζεις με 7 παίκτες και δεν έχεις κάνει και προετοιμασία, λογικό είναι να μην φτουράς σε διπλά ματς.
Δε σε υποχρεώνει όμως κανείς, να παίζεις με 7 μόνο παίκτες ή να μην έχεις κάνει προετοιμασία..
(και η προετοιμασία δεν είναι και πανάκεια... στον ΠΑΟΚ δηλαδή πόσοι από τους Πάρκερ-Γουάσιγκτον-Κούβελα κλπ κάνανε προετοιμασία με την ομάδα) ;

Στη Λιθουανία πέφτει αύριο (16/1, 21.00, Eurosport 2) η αυλαία της εφετινής… περιπέτειας της ΑΕΚ στο ULEB Cup. Το συγκρότημα του Βαγγέλη Αλεξανδρή θα τεθεί αντιμέτωπο της Λιέτουβος Ρίτας στο πλαίσιο της 10ης και τελευταίας αγωνιστικής της πρώτης φάσης του θεσμού, χωρίς να διεκδικεί κάτι, αφού έχει ήδη χάσει το… τρένο για τους "16"...

Πρόκειται για ένα αδιάφορο παιχνίδι στο οποίο ο Βαγγέλης Αλεξανδρής θα έχει τη δυνατότητα να πραγματοποιήσει διάφορες δοκιμές σε πρόσωπα, σχήματα και συστήματα εν όψει της δύσκολης συνέχειας στο πρωτάθλημα της Α1. Επίσης, αναμένεται να χρησιμοποιήσει αρκετά παίκτες που μέχρι τώρα δεν είχαν μεγάλο χρόνο συμμετοχής…

"Είναι ένα παιχνίδι διαδικαστικού χαρακτήρα για εμάς αφού λείπει το βαθμολογικό ενδιαφέρον. Είναι μια υποχρέωση που δεν μπορούμε να αποφύγουμε. Δεδομένου πως εκτός του τραυματία Σωτήρη Νικολαϊδη (τενοντίτιδα στον ώμο) και ο Μπρεντ Σκοτ παρέμεινε στην Αθήνα λόγω ενός προβλήματος με τη βίζα του ο Κώστας Μάγλος αναμένεται να αγωνιστεί για μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα όπως και οι Νίκος Παπανικολάου και Σπύρος Μαγκουνής…

"Σκοπός μας είναι να δώσουμε την ευκαιρία σε παιδιά που ως τώρα δεν έπαιζαν πολύ να δείξουν την αξία τους. Πέραν των μικρών θα παίξει πολύ και ο Κώστας Μάγλος διότι δεν θα έχουμε στη διάθεσή μας τον Σκοτ".

Κλείνοντας τις δηλώσεις του ο Βαγγέλης Αλεξανδρής έκανε μια μικρή αναφορά στο ματς με την ΑΕΛ, στη συνέχεια του πρωταθλήματος αλλά και στις δύο μεταγραφικές κινήσεις που πρόκειται να γίνουν…

"Έμεινα ικανοποιημένος από την εμφάνιση των παιδιών μας στο παιχνίδι με την ΑΕΛ. Είχαμε αρκετό άγχος αλλά το ξεπεράσαμε και καταφέραμε να φτάσουμε στην επίτευξη του στόχου μας. Η ενίσχυση του δυναμικού μας με δύο παίκτες θα μας βοηθήσει σημαντικά να ανέβουμε αγωνιστικά. Ελπίζω στο ματς με τον Πανελλήνιο να τους έχω και τους δύο".

"Without a doubt, we were a better team tonight and that's why we won. We played almost as perfectly as one could in the first half, but we became really lousy after the break. We were preparing for this game really hard so we concentrated, played really tough defense and made 70 percent of our three-pointers in the first half. During the halftime break I told my players to try to see zeros on the scoreboard but, still, they saw it differently. We lost concentration and made only 1 of 11 triples during the last two quarters. However, it is hard not to relax when one's lead reaches 25 points after 20 minutes. I'm not a fan of these kind of margins. Of course, AEK played really great at the end of the game. They hit some amazing shots. All in all, I think we did our job and I hope we will bring our group phase's success to the playoffs. I don't really care which team we'll have to play, I just want to get as much information about our future opponent as I can."

"The ending wasn't very good. We relaxed too much. Of course, AEK has really great three-point shooters. We let them shoot easily, besides, they intensified their defense. It is a disappointment, really, because apart form that we played really well. Unfortunately, we finished the game feeling not so good. Of course, it's OK but we have to learn a lesson that games have to be played until the last seconds. Consistency is what matters. We can't get too much excited about this win and keep working. We still have to fix some things. Obviously, we believe we can win the cup but it is too early. We must think about the upcoming round first."

"I think we started the game well. The crowd was here, it really turned us on. We had a good chance to put it away right up on at halftime but I think we came back a little overconfident. The main thing is to win, however. We were able to maintain our lead. It was a good game because now we're first in our group and playoffs are waiting. I think I played OK. There were stretches in recent past when I didn't play well at all but coach put me in the starting five and that gave me confidence. Of course, I wish I could have played better but we got the win and I think I helped out."

"This was a very interesting game. We came to play against one of the best teams in the ULEB cup without some of our main guys. The final result was actually not so important for us. We played more simply for the quality of our game. I let our younger and inexperienced guys play in the first half, the better ones played during the last two quarters. Lietuvos rytas shot really well from downtown and I think that's why they ran so far in the first half. We didn't expect such shooting fiesta. Overall, I'm satisfied with how we finished the game. Best wishes to Lietuvos rytas in ULEB cup playoffs. They have excellent players, experienced coaches and a fantastic crowd. They are capable of winning the cup."

"It was a difficult game for us, especially in the beginning. Lietuvos rytas is a great team but we came here to play. So we focused more on defense after the halftime break, made some important shots and came back. Lietuvos rytas is a really excellent team, I think they have a balanced roster with almost no flaws. If they continue to play like this, they are going to win the cup."
