Impressive: The Rockets easily won the summer league behind Lonny Baxter and Dion Glover. Even though he only played 16 minutes today, Baxter still ended up with 12 points on 6/8 shooting &nsbp; &nsbp; ΠΕΜΠΤΗ ΜΕΡΑ
Impressive: Another day, another incredible Lonny Baxter performance. 27 points, 8/15 shooting, 11/15 from the line, 7 rebounds and 1 block. Baxter was a load in the post, even out-muscling for an offensive rebound on a free throw and laying it in. He simply cannot be stopped. &nsbp; &nsbp;ΤΕΤΑΡΤΗ ΜΕΡΑ
While watching the Rocket's Lonny Baxter play, you have to wonder why his brief NBA stints were mostly ineffective. Baxter is a man among boys in the summer league, torching the Timberwolves for 31 points in 30 minutes on 8/12 shooting. He could get to the free throw line just by looking towards the rim, accumulating 19 attempts and hitting 15. &nsbp; &nsbp;
His excellent offensive game from the first two days continued and even improved. The 6'8", 260 pound forward got above the rim on multiple occasions. Baxter was able to drive baseline for a nice reverse dunk, steal an inbounds pass for another dunk, then added a huge exclamation point late in the game with a slam in traffic over everybody. He rounded out his box score nicely with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, and a block.
So why hasn't he found a role for himself in the NBA? Baxter was a champion in college with Maryland and he obviously knows how to play. Perhaps all he needs is a chance to be an every day contributor for a team instead of getting spot minutes from the end of a bench. After the way he has played in the summer league thus far, there just might be a team out there willing to give him that chance. Hopefully, Baxter will be able to take advantage of the opportunity. &nsbp; &nsbp;ΤΡΙΤΗ ΜΕΡΑ
For the Rockets, Lonny Baxter, formerly of Maryland, was quite a presence inside. He led the Rockets with 20 points and 10 boards on solid 7 of 13 shooting. Baxter was always under control and goes very strong to the bucket. He is only 6-8 and not all that athletic, but he plays very solid and never hurt his team. ΔΕΥΤΕΡΗ ΜΕΡΑ
Impressive: While Andrew Bogut had by far the best game, special mention has to go to Lonny Baxter of the Rockets. If Lonny can keep this up for three more games, I don't know how he doesn't end up wearing a Rockets jersey this year. His post moves are so solid and under control and his strength always gives him separation. He even showed a light touch on his 18-foot jump shots. Baxter had 15 points on 5/10 shooting, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. ΠΡΩΤΗ ΜΕΡΑ
